Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Vellum Development LLC ("Vellum", "we") for the Vellum plugin, the Vellum Studio at studio.vellumdev.com, the website vellumdev.com and the services behind them (together, "the Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them.

Vellum is NOT AN OFFICIAL MINECRAFT PRODUCT. It is NOT APPROVED BY OR ASSOCIATED WITH MOJANG OR MICROSOFT.

1. The Service

Vellum lets Minecraft server owners design custom mobs, items and models in a hosted Studio and load them onto their own servers through the Vellum plugin. The plugin is a free download. The Studio needs a Vellum account. A server is linked to an account with /vstudio connect and a pairing code.

Your server's own disk stays the source of truth for your content. If the Studio is unreachable, your server keeps running and content already loaded keeps working; you can still edit the plugin's files by hand.

2. Accounts

  • You must be at least [OPERATOR: 13] to create an account, and have a parent's or guardian's permission if you are under 18.
  • Sign in is by email link, Google or Discord. Keep access to them secure; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • A team owner can invite people to the team's seats and give them roles. The owner is responsible for what the team does.
  • Each linked server holds its own credential in server.key. Treat that file like a password. Anyone holding it can act as that server.

3. Plans and payment

  • The plans, their limits and their prices are listed at vellumdev.com/pricing, in US dollars. Free costs nothing. Builder and Engineer are subscriptions, monthly or yearly. The Network add-on and extra seats are separate monthly subscriptions.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Taxes are added where the law requires.
  • We may change prices. A change applies from your next renewal after we tell you, at least 30 days ahead.

4. When a paid plan ends

If a paid plan is cancelled or a payment fails and is not resolved, the account drops to Free. You then have 14 days to restore the plan or take your files out. After those 14 days Vellum deletes what it holds for you beyond Free's limits. Content on your own server's disk is never touched by this.

5. Your content

  • You keep all rights to the models, textures, configurations and other content you create or upload ("your content").
  • You give Vellum a licence to store, process, copy and serve your content only as needed to run the Service for you, for example to build and host your resource packs so your players can download them.
  • You confirm you have the rights to everything you upload.

6. The model marketplace

  • Every plan may browse and install models others have published. Paid plans may publish.
  • When you publish, you choose the licence other people receive. That licence is between you and them. Vellum hosts the listing.
  • Published content must follow §7. We may remove a listing that breaks these terms or a valid takedown notice (§8).
  • Selling in the marketplace, and creator earnings, will have their own terms when they launch.

7. Acceptable use

You must not use the Service to:

  • upload content you do not have the rights to, or that is illegal, sexually explicit, hateful, harassing, or harmful to minors;
  • break the law, Minecraft's EULA or Mojang's usage guidelines;
  • attack, overload, probe or reverse engineer the Service, or get around its limits, plan caps or security;
  • share or sell access to an account or a server credential;
  • send spam or malware through the Service.

If you believe content on Vellum infringes your copyright, email support@vellumdev.com with: the work, where it appears on Vellum, your contact details, and a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised and that your notice is accurate. We will remove or disable content when a notice is valid, and tell the person who posted it. [OPERATOR: register a DMCA agent if operating in the US.]

9. Suspension and termination

  • You can close your account at any time.
  • We may suspend or close an account, refuse a linked server, or block access that breaks these terms, that endangers the Service or other users, or where the law requires. Where we can, we will tell you why and how to resolve it.

10. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available but do not promise it will be uninterrupted. Support response times by plan are listed on the pricing page. We may change or retire features. If a change materially reduces what a paid plan includes, we will tell you ahead of time.

You may not use the Service if you are located in, or are a resident of, a country or region under comprehensive sanctions, or are on a sanctions list.

12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, Vellum gives no warranties beyond those in these terms, and is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights that cannot be limited by law.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [OPERATOR: country and state].

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here and, for a material change, email account holders at least 30 days before it takes effect.
